Senior Lead Custodian

Directly supervises the daily activities of custodial staff including training, evaluating and developing work assignments as they relate to academic and administrative areas. Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Custodial Services 2. Ability to read and comprehend instructions in order to follow and understand the custodial manual and manufacturer’s instructions. 3. Ability to speak, read and understand the English language in order to follow the custodial manual, safety posters and procedures, and manufacturer’s instructions. 4. Ability to learn and utilize basic computer skills for information access and minor record keeping. 5. Ability to learn and practice a working knowledge of audio/visual equipment. 6. Ability to learn and understand instructions, basic set up outlines and modify as necessary to fit individual needs. 7. Ability to lift and carry up to 49 pounds, bend and squat in order to assist in set-ups and preparation of campus events, move equipment, and perform job duties. 8. Ability to set goals, prioritize tasks, and evaluate progress toward those goals in order to accomplish assigned work. 9. Good interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to communicate effectively with management, students, faculty, staff, visitors and coworkers, and to enforce the policies and procedures of the custodial department, the physical plant, and the college in general. 10. Perform other management and/or supervisory functions as directed by the custodial supervisor and/or physical plant director. 11. Basic understanding of math, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and use ratios, generally acquired in high school. 12. Ability to accept responsibility for the security of equipment, supplies and keys. 13. Must be able to provide a valid cell phone number or contact number where employee can be reached in the event of a campus emergency. 14. Ability to hear to respond to alarms and radio communications for security purposes. 15. Ability to accurately and legibly write in order to fill out work orders and time off requests. 16. Ability to work independently in order to set up campus activities/events. Requires four years experience in building custodial and maintenance work. Preferred Qualifications Ability to instruct and supervise a large group of custodians. Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time.
