Patient Service Representative

Overview Department: St. Joseph Medical GroupEmployment Type: Full Time Shift Available: Days  Hours: 8-hour shifts, 7:30am – 4:00pm Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO.   We are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, in our high volume St. Joseph Medical Group office. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits. Responsibilities **To move forward in this position you must have at least 2 years of experience in amedical office setting** Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.  Processes referals and schedules patients accordingly.  Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues Greets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude. Qualifications 1.    Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred. 2.    Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. 3.    High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. 4.    Customer Service experience preferred.
