Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. We regularly review our compensation structures to ensure fairness and consistency across our organization.  Responsibilities Essential Functions Develops and maintains and evaluates patient and staff data collection systems and processes to support the practice of perioperative nursing and promote desired patient centered outcomes. Develops monitors and evaluates clinical and patient satisfaction initiatives, key surgical performance indicators, standards of nursing practice and outcomes of patient care. Ensures that there is sufficient flexibility and capacity to meet foreseeable surgical demand. The Director of Perioperative Services participates in the development of evidenced based organizational policies, procedures and standards, which direct patient care and describe the expectations of staff. Identifies and allocates resources according to budgetary expectations, benchmarking data, patient acuity systems and surgical nursing practice standards of care. Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration in data analysis and decision making processes. Facilitates perioperative services participation in interdisciplinary identification of desired patient centered outcomes. Promotes realistic optimism in the face of setbacks by not giving up on the achievement of established goals and outcomes. Seeks to exceed established standards of care and patient satisfaction targets. Within ethical, legal and moral boundaries seeks to overcome obstacles to meet the needs of patients and their families. Responds to issues and develops a plan to resolve or rectify patient, family, staff concerns. Collaborates with all health care providers to develop and maintain best practice methods. Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, visitors and all other staff. Develops positive rapport with individuals by encouraging and promoting constructive relationships Responds in a timely manner to oral and written communications and speaks in a positive manner. Resolves problems through established lines of communication. Conducts regular interdepartmental perioperative meetings. Demonstrates self-awareness of own communication style and adjusts to meet the needs of the situation. Fosters a stewardship of resources to achieve fiscal outcomes Departmental operating and capitol budgets are developed and monitored while adhering to financial objectives of the organization. Monitors and interprets monthly surgical expenditures, variances and management reports to ensure compliance with budget guidelines. Capable of drilling down deeper on data to identify root causes of variance and develop action plan to address it. Analyze available management data to identify opportunities to improve performance i.e. utilization of resources (surgical supplies, overtime, turnover times between cases); best practice analysis through benchmarking data. Reviews and evaluates plans for appropriate utilization of staff at all levels of practice in accordance with the provision of the state nurse practice act, the professional standards of practice by the American Organization of Operating Room Nurses and the American Society of Post-Anesthesia Nurses, benchmarking data and the patient acuity system. Seeks out opportunities for cost containment in perioperative services Explores opportunities for surgical volume enhancements through ongoing discussions with physicians Ensures that there is sufficient flexibility and capacity to meet foreseeable surgical demand. Promotes team cohesiveness throughout perioperative services and the larger Heywood Hospital community. Conducts regular departmental meetings and fosters open, honest communication in these forums. Responsible for assessing staff performance with Medication Reconciliation and providing remediation or progressive discipline where indicated. Provides constructive feedback, support and resources to enable the team to develop increased skills and abilities. Demonstrates high level of political and organizational awareness and the ability to reach a common understanding with other departments and services without compromising the needs of patient and families. Channels own efforts and those of the entire team on meeting the needs of patients and their families. Promotes physician satisfaction within perioperative services. Maintain open lines of communication with physicians. Capable of mining physician satisfaction data.
