Job Summary Nidec C&I A, a division of Nidec Motor Corporation, seeks an Application Engineer III. This role encompasses delivering technical and commercial support for engineered motors and active participation in new business development endeavors, spanning from RFQ to successful negotiation outcomes. The Applications Engineer III is a senior‑level technical professional responsible for leading complex customer application efforts, delivering advanced technical solutions, and driving product adoption through expert application knowledge. This role serves as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal stakeholders, independently managing high‑impact applications and resolving complex technical challenges. The Applications Engineer III applies deep engineering expertise, influences product direction, and contributes to strategic sales and product initiatives. Job Description Key Responsibilities Advanced Application Engineering & Technical Leadership Lead development and optimization of complex customer applications with minimal supervision Perform advanced application analysis, sizing, modeling, and performance validation Diagnose and resolve complex, non‑routine technical and performance issues Provide expert guidance on application feasibility, limitations, and optimization strategies Customer & Sales Engineering Partnership Serve as a senior technical resource during pre‑sales and post‑sales engagements Lead technical discussions, presentations, and demonstrations with customers and stakeholders Support strategic or high‑value opportunities requiring advanced technical expertise Build strong, consultative relationships with customers based on technical credibility Product, Engineering & Continuous Improvement Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve application‑driven issues Influence product development and enhancements by providing structured application feedback Support validation of new products, features, or design changes from an application perspective Contribute to road‑map discussions through insight into customer needs and emerging trends Documentation, Standards & Knowledge Sharing Develop and maintain advanced application notes, white papers, and technical documentation Establish best practices and standards for application engineering within assigned product areas Mentor and provide technical guidance to Applications Engineer I and II roles Share knowledge across engineering, sales, and support teams Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) 5–8+ years of experience in applications engineering, product engineering, or technical customer‑facing roles Advanced understanding of engineering principles relevant to assigned products and applications Strong analytical, modeling, and problem‑solving skills Ability to independently lead complex application efforts end‑to‑end Excellent technical communication and presentation skills Proficiency with engineering tools, CAD, simulation, or test equipment as applicable Strong customer‑focused mindset with the ability to balance technical, commercial, and operational considerations Ability to influence cross‑functionally without direct authority Additional Job Details Technical – T3 Organizational Impact • Works to achieve operational, functional, and/or business targets within team with direct and indirect impact on departmental or job family results, using practical technical principles • Intermediate-level technical contributor; generally works independently under moderate supervision and may seek advice of more senior employees in the same area • Failure to achieve results requires allocation of additional resources to meet goals and impacts project completion with the potential for additional financial expense. • Works on smaller, less complex projects/assignments Communication & Influence • Communicates with employees typically within the department and/or job family, explaining and interpreting matters related to the department; may communicate with external clients or partners depending upon the job area • May influence employees within own job area at an operational level Innovation & Complexity • Responsible for making minor improvements to technical/business processes, procedures, or systems to contribute to the performance of the team • Problems faced may be difficult but are not complex, requiring application of technical skills/analysis drawing from prior experiences, and typically involve consideration of multiple issues and impact job family and/or multiple teams Leadership & Talent Management • May provide guidance, help with training and review work of entry-level employees • May lead parts of less complex projects or processes Knowledge & Experience • Requires understanding of basic context and practical knowledge of technical and business environment as well as potential and upcoming technical advances within area of specialization, typically obtained through advanced education and relevant experience • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
