Transactor: Principal Investments

Job Description To originate, source, structure and manage a portfolio of investment banking clients from implementation through to termination and to ensure that the defined client transactional requirements reflected in the relevant approvals and legal agreements are implemented and adhered to. To develop client relations through originating, structuring and execution of deals, compiling proposals as well as overseeing the transaction. To directly participate in deal origination and structuring processes and participate in deal implementation processes in the allocated sector/product to enable improved profitability, market share and competitive positioning. Are you someone who can: Partner with primary client-facing business units to actively support the origination of mezz and equity funding opportunities / solutions for clients Perform financial modelling and cash flow analysis to evaluate and structure transactions appropriately to balance risk and reward for all parties Understand & pricing for risk Negotiating pricing and driving deal acceptance with clients, by presenting logical, appropriate, and convincing arguments that consider the needs of all parties Report writing and internal presentation to business and governance forums (investment and credit committees) for approval in a professional, timely and efficient manner Working with internal and external legal partners to implement transactions Ongoing portfolio management (investments, mezz funding positions and client portfolios), including management of underperforming assets and actively working towards value creation for clients and RMB Manage financial aspects of transactions through understanding and adherence to legal agreements and all applicable regulatory aspects (Companies Act, Excon, IFRS, FICA, Bank’s Act, etc) Management of investment / mezz funding positions through to exit / realisation ​ You Will Be an Ideal Candidate If You Have: Honours or Post Graduate degree (Business, Engineering or Finance) CA(SA), CFA or similar qualification is advantageous 2 to 5 years’ experience in a similar environment, ideally within Leveraged Finance, Mezzanine Finance or Private Equity Dealmaking, investment / debt origination skills - ability to conceive, structure and implement complex transactions Sound understanding of the commercial levers in businesses or assets, investment and credit risk You Will Have Access To: Opportunities to collaborate internally and externally Exposure to a wide range of asset classes, sectors and client sets Incredible learning opportunity, particularly development of technical financial and investment evaluation skills We Can Be a Match If You Are: Technically competent Hard working and resilient Embrace excellence Humble and eager to learn Are you interested to take the step?
