Testing Center Proctor

Overview Proctors work under the direction of the Testing Center Coordinator as a part of Student Services. Testing Center Proctors administer USU exams as well as other universities and testing agencies, implementing testing standards with confidentiality and integrity. This is a part-time, non-benefited position (16 - 26 hours a week), located at the USU – Tooele Statewide Campus (1021 W Vine St. Tooele, UT 84074). Applicant must be available and willing to work between the hours of 10AM and 8 PM, Monday through Thursday. Hours will vary depending on semester needs. Responsibilities Provide students, instructors, staff and community with excellent testing services Confidently greet all who enter our office Promptly answer phones, supplying useful information Professionally respond to emails Schedule exam appointments Check in testers Enter passwords Maintain testing confidentiality at all times Actively proctor exams taking place in the testing center Work as a team member to provide prompt, distraction-free services Accept proctoring payments according to USU provided training Prepare in-class items as needed from Materials and Testing Services (MATS) (rcde.usu.edu) Submit paper items (upload to Box) Diligently communicate with all USU Tooele campus stakeholders via communication platforms and emails Certify for third-party exams as assigned by coordinator Depending on your shift, you may be responsible for the opening or closing procedures for our office in addition to your assigned work tasks Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age Demonstrated outstanding customer services skills in person and on the phone Demonstrated fundamental computer skills (data entry, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications) Demonstrated exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) and maintain professionalism and confidentiality Preferred Qualifications Experience with university policy, procedures, and software (e.g. MATS, Banner, Canvas) preferred Experience with FERPA and confidential record keeping Familiar with processing financial transactions Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational and time management skills Perform duties with integrity Work independently and as a member of a team Able to multitask when office is busy Willingness to undertake necessary training Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. Continuous Environmental Factors (90%+ time): Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. ADA Cognitive Requirements: Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations. ADA Math Requirements: Perform simple addition and subtraction, reading and copying of figures, or counting and recording. ADA Communication Requirements - Speech: Expression of a level to communicate verbally with students, instructors, USU staff, community members and testing agencies to obtain and provide basic information. Able to communicate by telephone. Capable of explaining routine polices and of properly referring more complex cases. ADA Comm Requirements - Comprehension: Comprehension and expression of a level to record fairly uncomplicated information frequently such as appointment scheduling, data entry, logging entries, drafting and responding to email and phone messages.
