Technical Instructor of Electric Lineworker

ANNOUNCMENT OF POSITION VACANCY ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: Do you have a passion for sharing your craft and teaching the next generation? The successful candidate will teach career and technical courses and perform administrative work at the CMU Tech Electric Lineworker Campus. This is an 11-month appointment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Teach 15 credit hours per semester and maintain 5 hours of office hours per week.    Work independently, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students.    Demonstrate knowledge of, and experience in the field of electric lineworking, using the most current equipment, and other technology to enhance instruction in necessary areas.   Working knowledge and skill of up-to-date industrial trade principles, methods, and techniques Determine program needs, maintain equipment, and maintain program budget The successful applicant will positively interact with students, business and industry representatives, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the public in a professional manner Assist in recruitment, advisement, placement, development of cooperative work experience opportunities for students and follow-up of students Serve as representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills. Positive and enthusiastic attitude Coordinate industry engagement with local employers for advisory committee, internship, and other industry specific needs Perform all responsibilities and instructional duties in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as CMU/CMU Tech policies and procedures Ensure the maintenance of appropriate approvals & accreditation, maintain and develop the curriculum in step with industry and state requirements Other duties as required Salary: $85,000-$92,500 Commensurate with education and experience. Position may require training and supervision of part-time instructors.   QUALIFICATIONS:   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE     REQUIRED:   Certificate from an accredited institution in related field   Minimum of 4,000 hours of experience in electric line working in the last 7 years.   PREFERRED:   Associates degree or higher in related field   Supervisory experience   Evidence of teaching ability and or previous teaching experience as a lineman   COMPUTER SKILLS   Ability to utilize PowerPoint, Learning Management System technology to maintain grades and content.    LANGUAGE SKILLS     Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.   MATHEMATICAL SKILLS     Ability to apply accounting models and mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.   REASONING ABILITY     Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, to interpret an extensive variety of legal and regulatory documents and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS     The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
