Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants in a paid, mentored internship. You will support project documentation, cross-disciplinary coordination, and periodic job site observations while helping the team work within project budgets and meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to structural work across the team's commercial portfolio, alongside broader public-sector, education, healthcare, and multifamily experience, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050. At a Glance Location: Raleigh, NC Discipline: Structural Markets: Commercial Ownership: 100% employee-owned (ESOP) Work Schedule: Full-time in office, 10-12 week summer program Program Length: 10-12 week summer program Sponsorship: Not available What You'll Do Assist with structural design tasks for project discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards Assist with project research and resource gathering Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and suppliers Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly while monitoring project design progress Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check Assist with the preparation and issuance of addendum information Conduct periodic job site observations and perform other services required by the contract services agreement What You'll Bring Education Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required Experience None listed. Required Skills/Abilities Strong interest in design consulting Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Preferred Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises About the Team High-capacity Southeast structural team with especially strong public-sector, education, healthcare, and multifamily presence.
