Software Engineer Level 3

Description Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 3 to support the development of modern, cloud-based, microservices-driven applications for the Fort Meade Customer. This role spans full stack development, with a focus on building scalable frontend interfaces and high-performance backend services. The engineer will work across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-driven platforms to deliver resilient, mission-focused solutions. Responsibilities Develop and maintain full stack applications using modern frontend and backend technologies Build responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, React, and JSX (with exposure to TypeScript) Design and implement backend services using Node.js, Python, and Rust for high-performance components Develop and deploy microservices architectures using Kubernetes and Helm Implement service mesh, load balancing, and multi-site deployment strategies Support cloud migration efforts and optimize cloud-based system performance Integrate messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message fabrics Utilize infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Salt) for deployment and automation Develop and maintain real-time data processing using WebSockets and streaming technologies Implement testing frameworks (e.g., Jest) to ensure code quality and reliability Monitor system performance using tools such as Grafana and InfluxDB Work with a variety of data stores including MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Neo4j Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to system architecture decisions Qualifications Required Qualifications Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 12+ years of software engineering experience Strong experience with frontend development using JavaScript and React/JSX Experience with backend development using Node.js, Python, and/or Rust Experience designing and deploying microservices architectures Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud migration strategies Experience with distributed systems, messaging frameworks, and real-time data processing Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Grafana) Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases Familiarity with big data and data flow tools such as NiFi Understanding of security labeling and compliance standards (e.g., CAM, LAC, COI) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Salary Range USD $215,000.00 - USD $225,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
