Job Description: ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL Job Disclosures: Location: On-site or Remote, providing the candidate lives in one of the following markets: Santa Fe NM, Denver CO, Las Vegas NV, Dallas TX, Houston TX, Los Angeles CA Compensation:  The annual base salary range for this position is $175,000-$250,000. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated position grade, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.  Deadline:  The deadline for submitting applications for this position is October 16, 2026. Job Summary: Reporting to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel is a key member of Meow Wolf’s 4-person legal team.  Collaborating with all aspects of operations and members of senior management, you will be a generalist, providing expert and timely legal guidance on a wide array of commercial matters.  Meow Wolf operates across a diverse array of subject areas, including licensing, intellectual property and construction, data privacy, labor relations, merchandising, food & beverage, public and private events, non-profit/philanthropic, corporate governance and litigation.  You will address the company’s legal needs as it continues to grow and expand across various platforms and internationally. This position requires a proactive, solution-driven, adaptable business counsel who thrives in a dynamic environment and can work through business issues effectively and efficiently while providing succinct and clear advice.   Key Responsibilities: Offer legal and strategic advice across most areas of the company in a wide variety of subject areas, including IP, real estate, construction, entertainment-related agreements and issues and litigation, with the flexibility to take ownership of matters end-to-end.   Draft, review and negotiate bespoke contracts and policies, dealing with commercial issues pragmatically and often without established precedent or templates.   Provide business-facing, actionable, relevant and practical legal advice to business teams and develop strong relationships across various departments, including products and engineering, marketing, human resources, exhibition development, information security and finance.   Serve as a legal advisor to local exhibitions in areas such as employee and labor relations; local rules and regulations and operational troubleshooting, which includes but is not limited to facilities, security, private events, retail, marketing and liquor license-related business functions. Assist in responding to due diligence and discovery requests as they arise.  Help manage external counsel in litigation matters. Assist in building and refining legal processes, templates and policies as the company continues to scale. Required Qualifications JD from an accredited law school and an active member in good standing of at least one state bar. At least 15 years of legal experience, including a minimum of 10 years practicing in-house at a media company across a wide array of subjects. Willingness to be an active participant in all levels of work activity, learn new areas of the law quickly and operate effectively with limited supervision or established processes.   Broad legal knowledge, including intellectual property, real estate, construction, corporate governance, data privacy, content licensing and commercial contracts.  Experience with labor relations and the USPTO is a plus. Exceptional drafting and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly across many different areas and levels of the company. High degree of professional ethics, integrity and demonstrated gravitas, capable of engendering the confidence of senior management and all employees.   Excellent judgment, leadership and analytical skills.  Ability to anticipate legal issues and risks.   Collaboration - be a willing and enthusiastic participant in a collaborative culture supporting both creative and management stakeholders in a dynamic environment.  Demonstrated, solid proficiency in time management skills and reviewing and processing large amounts of data.  Resilient, focused problem solver and self-starter, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a complex, occasionally ambiguous environment where processes may not yet be defined.   Work Environment and Physical Demands  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactor
