Senior Systems Administrator/Engineer – Identity and Infrastructure

The Senior Systems Administrator/Engineer – Identity and Infrastructure designs, automates, secures, and supports enterprise identity and hybrid infrastructure services across Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments. The role provides senior-level expertise in Active Directory, Entra ID, Windows Server, application integrations, and cloud infrastructure while driving reliability, modernization, and operational excellence. Essential Job Functions: ​ Design, implement, administer, and modernize enterprise identity and hybrid infrastructure services across Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments.  Engineer and support Active Directory, Entra ID, Windows Server, domain controllers, DNS, identity federation, enterprise applications, app registrations, service principals, certificates, and access controls.  Design and support secure application integrations using standards-based authentication, including SAML and OIDC, and troubleshoot complex authentication, claims, group-assignment, and access issues.  Support the migration, operation, and lifecycle management of identity and Windows infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments.  Engineer, administer, secure, and support Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including identity integration, user and group administration, application access, monitoring, automation, and cloud-service configuration.  Develop and maintain PowerShell and platform automation for application onboarding, identity administration, monitoring, reconciliation, configuration management, and operational support.  Establish and improve monitoring, health checks, alerting, operational metrics, and recovery procedures using Splunk and cloud-native monitoring capabilities.  Manage security-sensitive dependencies, including service accounts, privileged access, secrets, certificates, password rotations, and application ownership.  Provide engineering and operational support for enterprise platforms and services, including Global Relay, Nasuni, Microsoft 365 integrations, and other identity-enabled systems.  Lead complex troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and service-restoration efforts across identity, cloud, server, storage, and application-integration technologies.  Partner with architecture, cybersecurity, networking, cloud engineering, application teams, and vendors to deliver secure, resilient, compliant, and supportable solutions.  Create and maintain technical designs, implementation and test plans, scripts, runbooks, recovery procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational documentation.  Participate in change, incident, and problem management; Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing and reporting; audit support; compliance activities; and continuous service improvement.  Evaluate emerging technologies and platform capabilities, recommend improvements, and lead technical workstreams that advance reliability, security, automation, and modernization.  Collaborate with other technical staff, share operational knowledge, and promote consistent engineering and support practices across the team.  Demonstration of FINRA’s values.  Collaboration, both in-person and virtually, in furtherance of FINRA’s mission of investor protection and market integrity.  Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least five (5) years of related experience, or equivalent training and / or work experience. Past senior level systems administrator experience in a production data center environment. Knowledge of industry leading monitoring and diagnostic tools Knowledge of at least one operating system and at least one contemporary scripting language. Knowledge of communication and network technologies. Exposure to common operational practices like metrics reporting, change management, incident management, problem management and communication ITIL & ISO:9000 framework experience/certification preferred. Strong written and verbal technical communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships that improved the quality of work products. Should be well organized, thorough, and able to handle competing priorities. Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Work Conditions: Hybrid work environment, with defined in-person presence requirements. Occasional lifting may be required. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.
