Job Title Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Senior SDET / SETI) About the Role Clover integrators and developers rely on Clover SDKs and hardware to build mission-critical applications for businesses worldwide. The SETI (Software Engineering for Test Infrastructure) team is responsible for testing Clover SDKs and hardware integrations, ensuring third-party developers have a resilient, scalable, and high-performing platform. Our state-of-the-art robot lab houses 40+ custom-built robots running automated test suites. These robots are controlled via REST microservices and managed through a centralized orchestration engine engineered by our team. Jenkins CI/CD pipelines drive test execution across numerous hardware configurations, connectivity protocols (WebSockets, REST, USB, Cloud), and 5+ language SDKs (Android, iOS/macOS, Windows, Java, JavaScript). We support full regression testing for continuous software releases while expanding automation framework capabilities for new payment features. What You’ll Do Drive Test Strategy & Architecture: Design, write, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and automated suites for complex Android applications, REST APIs, and Clover SDK integration layers. Expand Automation Infrastructure: Develop and maintain robust, scalable automated test scripts and framework components using UIAutomator, Espresso, Java, and Python to interface with our custom robot automation lab. Lead Complex Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose, isolate, and debug intermittent failures and regressions across a multi-tiered infrastructure (hardware, OS, SDKs, APIs, and network protocols). CI/CD Integration & Governance: Configure, optimize, and maintain Jenkins pipelines to automate regression suites, smoke testing, and release gating protocols. Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Partner closely with Development, Product, and Hardware teams to scope features, define non-functional requirements, identify test coverage gaps, and influence design for testability. Defect Ownership & Reporting: File high-quality defect reports using Jira, tracking issues through resolution and conducting post-mortem analysis to prevent future leakage. Mentor & Guide: Provide technical direction and code review support to distributed quality and development teams to elevate overall automation standards. Experience You’ll Need to Have 6–10 years of progressive experience in Software Quality Engineering, SDET, or Software Development roles. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Strong Automation Experience: Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and extending test automation frameworks in Object-Oriented languages (Java, Python, or C#). Mobile & API Testing: Proven proficiency with Android OS testing (adb debugging, logcat analysis, Android Studio) and RESTful API testing. CI/CD & DevOps Tools: Solid experience configuring and utilizing Jenkins pipelines, shell scripting (Bash), and version control systems (Git). Database & Environment Querying: Hands-on experience with SQL (MySQL) and Linux/Unix environments via SSH for log extraction and backend validation. Pragmatic Engineering Mindset: Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize complex tasks, troubleshoot intricate systems, and deliver reliable results in a fast-paced environment. Experience that would be great to have Mobile Framework Mastery: Deep experience with mobile UI test frameworks such as UIAutomator, Espresso, or Appium. Payment & Hardware Domain Knowledge: Hands-on experience testing point-of-sale (POS) hardware, mobile payment flows, terminal SDKs, or EMV/PCI transaction architectures. Network & Connectivity Protocols: Familiarity testing across multi-protocol interfaces (WebSockets, REST, USB, Bluetooth, or Cloud bridges). Advanced Scripting: Proficiency with Groovy, Ruby, or JavaScript for build automation and test harness extensions. How you’ll work This role is on-site Monday through Friday.
