Senior Project Manager – Finance Transformation

As McKesson   prepares for   the separation of its   Medical-Surgical business unit (Wellverse)   into a standalone company, we are seeking a   Senior Project Manager   to lead the   Finance Transformation & Governance   workstream within the   MMS Separation PMO . This role will oversee a   large-scale transformation portfolio   focused on   Transition Service Agreement (TSA) exits , future-state operating model design, process and technology transformation, and the establishment of independent finance capabilities. The role will initially support   Controllership, Tax,   and   Internal Audit , with the opportunity to expand into   additional   finance functions based on program priorities and business needs. The Senior Project Manager will serve as the   central point   of coordination across Finance, PMO, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive execution, governance, decision-making, and organizational readiness. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a   fast-paced, evolving environment   and enjoys solving complex business and organizational challenges.   Work Environment :   This is a hybrid position based in Richmond, VA. The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite   2-3 days per week   to   facilitate   collaboration with Finance, PMO, and business stakeholders.   Additional   onsite presence may be   required   to support key program milestones, workshops, and leadership engagements.   Key Responsibilities :   Lead planning and execution of the Finance Transformation & Governance workstream, including TSA exits and post-TSA capabilities across finance functions.   Support the design and stand-up of new finance organizations, including organizational structure, process design, and system enablement.   Manage the implementation and integration of tools, reporting frameworks, and operational workflows that support long-term financial governance.   Serve as the primary liaison between the PMO and Finance stakeholders across Controllership, Tax, Internal Audit, and other finance functions as assigned.   Drive alignment across Finance, IT, Product, HR, Operations, and Shared Services to support successful separation and transition outcomes.   Partner with the Project Director to   align on   strategy, escalate risks, resolve issues, and communicate key decisions.   Develop and   maintain   detailed project plans, milestones, RAID logs, decision trackers, and dependency management processes.   Lead executive communications, steering committee materials, and leadership reporting to ensure transparency and   timely   decision-making.   Facilitate governance forums, working sessions, and cross-functional stakeholder meetings.   Support change management, communications, and training activities to drive adoption of new processes, systems, and operating models.   Maintain project documentation and collaboration tools, including Smartsheet, SharePoint, and other PMO platforms.   Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while   maintaining   focus on strategic   objectives   and business outcomes.   We're   Looking for Someone Who   T hi nks strategically and executes precisely:   Connects business needs with operational realities and translates complex challenges into actionable plans.   Influences with clarity:   Communicates effectively across all levels, from executives to working teams, driving alignment and sustained momentum.   Is a compelling storyteller:   Develops executive-ready presentations, communications, and strategic narratives that simplify complex topics and drive decision-making.   Is curious and resourceful:   Asks thoughtful questions, explores   new ideas , and thrives in ambiguity.   Acts with urgency:   Moves initiatives forward despite obstacles while   remaining   focused on outcomes.   Builds strong partnerships:   Fosters trust, collaboration, and alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.   Leads through influence:   Effectively drives results in a matrixed organization without direct authority.   Basic Qualifications   Bachelor's degree or equivalent military experience   7+ years of project or program management experience   Experience managing complex cross-functional initiatives using Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methodologies   Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills   Preferred Qualifications   10+ years of experience   leading transformation, separation, operating model, finance, or organizational change initiatives.   Experience supporting Finance functions such as   Controllership, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, or Financial Shared Services .   Experience managing TSA exits, large-scale business transformations, mergers, acquisitions, or separation programs.   PMP, Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma certification.   Proficiency   with project management and collaboration tools, including Smartsheet, Miro, Jira, and SharePoint.   Advanced   proficiency   with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.   Strong executive communication and presentation development skills.   Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed environment and navigate ambiguity with confidence.   ​ About McKesson Medical-Surgical McKesson Medical-Surgical (MMS), which is expected to become Wellverse in e
