Organization: MCJCHV Nursing Operations Job Summary: The Senior Nursing Projects Manager is the frontline leader of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Health Staffing office. The role bridges the gap between daily tactical scheduling and high-level clinical strategy. It has oversight and accountability of the staffing office and ensures there is relationship building and strategic alignment with the Nurse Managers that they support. They will be responsible for independently leading projects and projects teams that support the strategic or operational goals of VUMC nursing. Identifies and assesses appropriate resources and creates timelines to ensure appropriate completion of projects. Coordinates the activities of teams by becoming familiar with systems scope and project objectives, as well as the role and functions of each team member. Collaborates with key nursing and system stakeholders to create standard processes that facilitate projects and programs. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develops project plans, goals and objectives in collaboration with project and department leadership. Provides professional and/or technical leadership in the execution of day-to-day project activities. Communicates within and across departments to maximize information sharing around progress, needs, interdependencies and accomplishments. Assures successful implementation of people, process and systems changes to support professional nursing. Participates in institutional task forces and other special committees related to the achievement of goals and objectives. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES Strategic Planning (Intermediate): Demonstrates ability to successfully prepare long-range plans for a major functional area. Demonstrates ability to forecast complex resource needs and recognize risks. Merges diverse points of view into a coalition with shared goals and objectives. Identifies relevant stakeholders and gains their commitment. Project Management (Advanced): Develops plans for personnel, facilities and equipment resources for multiple projects concurrently. Reviews and approves estimates prepared by project staff. Responsible for project phases, costs, and sign-offs. Trains others in planning and operations management techniques. Resolves complex problems and takes corrective action. Consulting Services (Intermediate): Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of consulting services in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses mastery of the core technology, products, services and operations within field of work and is fully capable of their delivery without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example and giving technical instruction. Demonstrates acute knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies. Attends industry seminars and forums on a regular basis. Process Improvement (Advanced): Identifies, analyzes and improves upon existing business processes for optimization and to meet standards of quality. Project Planning (Advanced): Demonstrates ability to forecast resource needs, identify and break work down into discrete and measurable tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, prepare acceptance criteria and organize work for large, complex projects requiring diverse functions and/or operations. Continuously monitors and follows up on buyins and commitments. Competently handles multiple projects simultaneously, balancing and scheduling tasks requiring dependencies and those which can be accomplished independently. Accurately estimates and plans complex projects and assignments. Maintains perspective between the overall picture and the details.
