About your team The Japan Product Development and Management Team is responsible for shaping and executing the product strategy that supports our growth ambitions in Japan. The team oversees product development, implementation, product governance, lifecycle management, market intelligence, as well as supporting local distribution strategies. Working closely with Distribution, Investment Management, and key internal and external stakeholders, the team develops and evolves the product offering to meet changing client needs, regulatory requirements, and market opportunities while maintaining a strong product governance framework. About your role You will be part of a dynamic Product Development team that drives business growth through the development, management, and commercialization of investment products and solutions for intermediary and institutional clients.   The Japan Product Development and Management Team is seeking a Senior Manager to lead product development initiatives spanning ideation, product design and development through implementation and launch, working closely with colleagues across Product and other functions to ensure successful business outcomes across the product lifecycle. The role will work across a broad range of investment products and structures, including traditional mutual funds, while also bringing ETF product expertise to support the development of our ETF capabilities and product offering in Japan. In this role, you will independently deliver key initiatives with sound judgment and effective risk management, contributing to the Japan product agenda and business growth. You will work closely with Distribution, Investment Management, global Product teams and other internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and translate them into viable product solutions. Given the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and contribute to industry initiatives to help position us to respond to evolving market and regulatory developments. Key Responsibilities Drive the evolution of the Japan product suite by identifying commercial opportunities and developing market-relevant products and solutions in partnership with Distribution, Investment Management, and Product Development team in other regions. Develop product recommendations based on market opportunities, client demand, competitive developments, and investment capabilities. Lead the design, structuring and development of new investment products and solutions, including investment objectives, fund structure, pricing, distribution policy, and disclosure requirements, assessing alternative product structures and implementation approaches where appropriate. Develop robust business cases to support strategic product initiatives for the Japan intermediary and institutional businesses. Lead product development initiatives from concept through implementation and launch, including feasibility assessment, product design and structuring, business case development, internal approvals and implementation planning. Lead or work in partnership with Product Delivery on cross-functional implementation, coordinating with Investment Management, Distribution, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Technology and other stakeholders as appropriate. Act as an ETF subject matter expert within the Japan Product team, supporting the development and implementation of ETF products and capabilities and working closely with global ETF colleagues and relevant internal and external stakeholders. Monitor capital market developments, asset flows, peer activity, academic and industry research, and emerging market trends to inform product development priorities. Monitor regulatory, market structure and industry developments affecting investment products and assess their implications for product development and implementation, working closely with Compliance and other internal stakeholders. Contribute to internal discussions regarding product enhancements, changes or rationalisation initiatives, partnering closely with Distribution and Investment Management teams. Participate in regional and global product forums, ensuring local market priorities are appropriately represented. About you The ideal candidate possesses the following skills and experience: Demonstrated experience in investment product development within an asset management organisation, with hands-on experience across product design, structuring, business case development, implementation and launch. Significant experience in ETF product development and delivery is required. 5+ years of relevant product experience, including significant hands-on experience in ETF product development, structuring and implementation. Strong understanding of the ETF ecosystem, including ETF product structures, authorised participants, market makers, creation/redemption processes, liquidity considerations, exchange listings and ETF distribution models. Good knowledge of investment strategies and portfolio management across major traditional asset classes, with broader knowledge of multi-asset, private assets and alternative investments advantageous.
