This role supports moderate to complex projects and larger, high-complexity work, giving candidates the option to pursue either a Technical Path or a Project Management Path focused on electrical systems in buildings. In either path, the role includes project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight, along with budget accountability, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve client goals and client expectations. You will support industrial and manufacturing-focused work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030. At a Glance Location: Cincinnati, OH Discipline: Electrical Markets: Industrial; Manufacturing; MEP Ownership: 100% employee-owned (ESOP) Travel: Up to 20% Work Schedule: Full-time hybrid Sponsorship: Not available What You'll Do Technical Path Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports. Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships through professional communication. Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence. Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements. Train, mentor, and motivate staff. Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG. Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals. Participate in project interviews and project presentations. Project Management Path Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity. Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews. Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines. Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients. Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly. Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner. Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation. Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested. Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals. Train, mentor, and motivate staff. Build, maintain, and develop client relationships. What You'll Bring Required for Both Tracks Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required Professional Engineer (PE) License required 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI) Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise Ability to sell work and develop client relationships Strong training and mentoring skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays Technical Path Required for this track Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems Project Management Path Required for this track Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path About the Team Service mix centers on industrial and aerospace/manufacturing work, with strong mechanical and electrical scope and frequent industrial architecture involvement.
