Senior Associate, Energy Policy & Investments (Environmentals)

Job Description: Capstone is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Environmental Services team. The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative and analytical background and an interest in understanding how environmental regulations, market dynamics, and broader policy developments impact companies, industries, and investment opportunities.  The Senior Associate will conduct research and analysis across the environmental services sector, with a focus on identifying differentiated insights and investment opportunities. The role will involve analyzing companies, industries, regulatory developments, market trends, and financial data to assess their potential impact on businesses and investors.  The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members and interact with clients, industry participants, policymakers, and other stakeholders. This is a highly analytical role that requires strong quantitative skills, intellectual curiosity, excellent writing and communication abilities, and an interest in applying research and analysis to investment decisions.  We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in quantitative consulting, corporate strategy, turnaround or restructuring advisory, investment banking, private equity, equity research, or similar analytical environments. Experience in environmental services or related sectors is a plus, but direct environmental policy experience is not required. Candidates with environmental policy backgrounds will be considered where their experience has a strong quantitative and analytical component.  Qualifications Successful candidates will possess the following attributes: Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex business and market dynamics Ability to develop differentiated insights and investment ideas supported by rigorous analysis Strong financial and/or quantitative modeling skills Intellectual curiosity and the ability to think creatively Strong writing and communication skills Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and communicate key takeaways clearly Strong client servicing and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Interest in combining business, markets, policy, and investing Experience analyzing companies, industries, or investment opportunities Environmental services or sector-specific experience is a plus, but not required Education and Experience Requirements Four-year Bachelor's degree required; degrees in finance, economics, mathematics, business, or other quantitative disciplines are preferred  1–2 years of professional experience for Associate candidates, including candidates with relevant experience directly out of a Master's program  Relevant experience in quantitative consulting, investment banking, private equity, equity research, corporate strategy, turnaround/restructuring advisory, or a related field  Demonstrated quantitative and analytical capabilities  Strong academic achievement  Strong MS Excel skills  Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Capstone offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision, dental insurance, paid vacation, travel stipend, and 401(k). The expected compensation for this role will be $90,000–$130,000 per annum, with eligibility in Capstone's annual bonus pool.  This position can be based in our New York or Washington, DC office .
