AAWDC’s Restaurant Ready cohort prepares participants for opportunities in the restaurant industry through practical job readiness and food safety training. Participants will complete Restaurant Ready, a national program developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) that builds the foundational job and life skills needed to pursue restaurant careers. The cohort also includes ServSafe Food Handler training , covering safe food handling practices, prevention of foodborne illness, and food allergy awareness. Program structure Complete a one-week bootcamp followed by five to six weeks of on-the-job training , where you’ll apply your skills in a restaurant workplace. AAWDC will work with business partners to develop on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, allowing participants to build their skills through paid employment. Participants who have already identified an employer they would like to work with are encouraged to share that information. AAWDC can connect with the employer to discuss their interest in an OJT contract and determine whether the opportunity is a fit.
