Overview RN, Emergency Services - Full Time Nights Department: EmergencySchedule: Full-Time, Nights The Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Services provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent medical conditions. Utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, this role delivers timely clinical interventions, monitors patient status, and coordinates care to support optimal outcomes. The Emergency Department RN collaborates closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, responds rapidly to changing patient conditions, and ensures compliance with regulatory, patient safety, and confidentiality standards. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department. Provide direct patient care to individuals with acute illnesses, injuries, and emergency medical conditions. Monitor patient status, interpret clinical findings, and promptly communicate changes in condition to physicians and the care team. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. Respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies, trauma cases, and changes in patient condition. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care. Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, case managers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Supervise and support ancillary nursing personnel while promoting high standards of patient care. Ensure compliance with EMTALA requirements, mandatory reporting guidelines, patient privacy regulations, and hospital policies. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation. Qualifications Required Current and unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) license. Current BLS (AHA) certification. Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. Current PALS and/or ENPC certification within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire. Minimum one (1) year of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting. Strong emergency assessment, critical thinking, patient monitoring, and clinical decision-making skills. Knowledge of EMTALA requirements, patient privacy regulations, and emergency nursing standards. Preferred Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Facility-Specific Requirements (As Applicable) MICN certification within 12 months of hire for Paramedic Base Station Emergency Departments. Completion of Emergency Pediatric Course I & II within 6 months of hire for EDAP-certified facilities. NRP certification within 90 days of hire for non-OB facilities.
