QA Engineer Job Description Plan and execute functional, system, integration, security, regression, and end-to-end testing for the SSAS monitoring solution. Validate the SQL Server data model, ALETL parser, SSAS DMV and Extended Events collectors, processing and derived metrics, thresholds, and Power BI reports. Perform source-to-target and source-to-report reconciliation, maintain complete requirements traceability, document test evidence, manage defects, verify engineering fixes, and support UAT, deployment, production validation, and test closure. Key Responsibilities Prepare the test strategy, test plan, test scenarios, test cases, test data, entry criteria, and exit criteria. Maintain a complete traceable test suite linking requirements, acceptance criteria, test cases, execution results, defects, and evidence. Validate raw, staging, curated, dimension, fact, snapshot, configuration, audit, and serving data layers. Test source-to-target mappings, data history, dataset grain, keys, relationships, completeness, and reconciliation. Validate ALETL message patterns, RunContext correlation, processing duration, status, outcomes, and error details. Test malformed, duplicate, incomplete, unmatched, and out-of-sequence event handling. Validate cube and partition processing start-and-end pairing, duration, success, failure, and historical trends. Test SSAS DMV collectors for collection accuracy, time-series capture, permissions, completeness, scheduling, and auditability. Validate SSAS Extended Events capture, ingestion, shredding, watermarking, restartability, duplicate prevention, and collection overhead. Test derived metrics, baselines, thresholds, severity, effective-dated overrides, deviations, and RAG status. Validate weekday, weekend, and heavy-processing-window baseline scenarios. Reconcile Power BI KPIs and DAX calculations against approved SQL Server results. Test Power BI filters, datetime selection, drill-through, trends, visual interactions, RLS, refresh, and report accuracy. Perform security and access testing, including least-privilege, service-account, database, report, and data-access validation. Execute end-to-end integration scenarios across source collection, SQL processing, metric derivation, and Power BI reporting. Test failure paths, recovery, safe reruns, restartability, and exception handling. Log defects with severity, expected and actual results, reproduction steps, and supporting evidence. Verify engineering defect fixes and provide complete regression evidence. Support UAT, deployment, rollback validation, production smoke testing, and acceptance. Produce the complete test-evidence pack, test-summary report, and closure report.
