Pharmacist (Hours: 8-5)

Our passion for the well-being of animals and those who care for them drives us to advance the world of veterinary medicine.  Location: Pharmacy, Fort Worth, Texas Reporting To: Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist-in-Charge Position Title : Pharmacist  SUMMARY   The   Pharmacist   position coordinates the drug distribution and clinical pharmacy activities for support departments.  The role is responsible for safe and efficient methods for coordination of established pharmacy policy concerning drug patient care (pet) and provides clinical drug information to meet the needs of the patient (pet), the veterinarian and all other appropriate support personnel.   They will also support the company mission, vision, and values.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHERS DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED : Reviews and interprets   vets   orders for appropriateness relevant to, to ensure that overdoses or under-doses have not been prescribed and that interactions, incompatibilities or toxic compounds will not result   from combination of medications   Dispenses prescriptions to pets in accordance with policy and in conformance with regulations and laws dealing with the class of prescription; counsels patients (pet owners) about their medications and maintains   an accurate, up to date profile   Maintains necessary controls with respect to audited controlled drugs and alcohol; prepares controlled drug req uest for delivery by technician   Participates in in-service ed ucation programs when requested   Verifies the work performed by support personnel, which includes pet drug data entry, cassette filling   and unit-dose drug distribution   Maintains up to date knowledge of the profession by participating in organization memberships; by attending meetings, lectures, in service and seminars; by reading journals; and by complying with National Standards of Continuing Education to maintain professi onal competency and proficiency   Participates in clinical programs instituted in the department such as drug-level monitoring, ant ibiotic monitoring and consults   Participates   in special studies as requested   Ensures that the quality of the prof essional services is maintained   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES     Pharmacy Technicians   Ancillary Personnel   QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE : Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or BS Degree in Pharmacy   Must have 6 – 12 months of experience   Experience with veterinary products preferred   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:    Must be a Licensed Registered Pharmacist in good standing with the state of   Texas   and other states as required   COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)  : Customer/Client Focus   Ethical Conduct   Reading Comprehension – Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Ability to comprehend basic principles, theories and laws, policies and proc edures that pertain to pharmacy   Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.  Abil ity to pay attention to details   Mathematics - Usin g mathematics to solve problems   Technical- proficient on keyboard and operating a computer terminal.
