Note: All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval Job Description: This recruitment will be used to fill 2 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student jobs for the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU). The Center for Advancing Financial Education (CAFE) seeks motivated students in Oregon State University's Financial Planning Option to serve as Personal Finance Educators.   In this role, students provide financial education through one-on-one appointments, workshops, presentations, community outreach, and financial wellness clinics while working alongside Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professionals, faculty, staff, and community partners.  Personal Finance Educators receive ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development in financial planning, client communication, leadership, and public education. The position offers hands-on experience applying the financial planning process, supporting clients, facilitating educational programs, and expanding access to financial education across Oregon.  This hybrid role combines in-person and remote responsibilities, including client appointments, outreach, presentations, meetings, and administrative work. Educators are expected to demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, ethical conduct, and client-centered service. Appointments are expected to begin in Fall 2026 with onboarding and training.  Pay rate for this position is $16.55 per hour. Position Duties 65% – Personal Finance Education & Client Services Conduct one-on-one basic financial education appointments with students and community members under the guidance of CAFE professional staff Educate clients using the basics of the financial planning process, financial education principles, and coaching techniques learned through coursework and CAFE training to support clients in fundamental areas including financial goal setting, budgeting, saving, investing, debt, credit, insurance, and student loan repayment Prepare for and execute appointments by reviewing client information, documenting appointment notes, maintaining confidentiality, identifying appropriate campus and community resources, and making referrals when topics fall outside the scope of this role Build trusting, respectful relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions Lead or co-facilitate financial wellness presentations and educational workshops for students, families, and community audiences Attend weekly team meetings, case discussions, and collaborative debrief sessions to continuously improve client services and financial education skills  20% – Professional Training & Development Complete an extensive onboarding and training program during the first academic term and continue participating in ongoing professional development throughout employment Complete assigned online modules, certifications, readings, and applied learning activities related to financial planning, coaching, financial wellness, peer education, and inclusive coaching practices Shadow experienced Personal Finance Educators, CAFE staff, and CFP® professionals before independently meeting with clients Participate in coaching sessions, role-playing activities, reflective practice, case discussions, and individualized feedback meetings designed to strengthen client communication, critical thinking, and financial planning knowledge Demonstrate continued growth in professionalism, ethical decision-making, financial planning knowledge, and client engagement  15% – Community Engagement & Program Support Participate in community-based financial wellness clinics (dates, times, and locations to be determined)  Collaborate with CFP® professionals, Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) partners, Oregon State University Extension personnel, and CAFE staff to deliver presentations, workshops, and one-on-one financial education appointments during financial wellness clinics Represent Oregon State University and CAFE professionally while serving students, families, and Oregon communities Assist with outreach events, tabling, marketing initiatives, assessment activities, educational resource development, and special projects that expand CAFE's impact across campus and throughout Oregon Transferable Skill Development OSU is committed to ensuring students are prepared for success after graduation through intentional skill development as student employees.
