The APP will serve as personnel for clinical trials managed by the Prevention team within Atrium Health’s pediatrics research program. The primary focus is vaccine and prevention research in children; however, responsibilities may also include clinical trials and observational research involving adults and diverse patient populations across the lifespan. Position Highlight:   Full Time  Monday – Friday schedule with possible future evening and weekend responsibilities. Minimal call coverage and travel component Outpatient Average daily patient load: 3-5 Dynamic team of providers including 2 MDs and 2 APPs Amazing opportunity to work alongside research in multiple facets for pediatrics  Responsibilities: Review of medical history, medications and assess these against the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the study. Obtain informed consent in a team model, and support team as participants have questions. Perform physical exams, based on history and concerns and protocol requirements. Evaluate study diaries and discuss s/s with participant Serve in a blinded or unblinded capacity on different trials, as study needs dictate Data capture, and clarification of EMR and medical history for staff making calls and reviewing registries, and enrollment and study visits. May make calls to potential participants and their families, to determine interest in participating in clinical research, assess eligibility based on protocols. Serve as informal spokesperson for research, prevention studies, and vaccines and vaccine trials. Gather information about AE’s, SAE’s and draft and submit reports, in conjunction with PI and investigator team. Complete Source documents, EDC, and resolution of appropriate queries in conjunction with the study team Review safety information for SUSARs, and sponsor reports. Support development and education of research team as needed for SOP’s, GCP, clinical trials protocols, study procedures. Develop presentations related to research projects for use with clinics, investigators, or professional organizations. Participate in Research project development, grant submission activities, protocol development, and IRB submissions with investigator and research teams, and participate in academic activity such as abstract and manuscript writing and submission. Work with research teams and data scientists to develop skills with REDCap, Slicer Dicer, EPIC reporting, and other electronic data systems in support of specific research projects. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions. Current PALS and ATLS preferred.  Research experience a plus. Nurse Practitioner:  Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.   Physician Assistant:  Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, master's degree preferred.
