Job Summary: Operations Quality has an opening for a Factory Quality Engineer who will interface with the factory teams supporting production, first article inspections, creating/maintaining work/inspection instructions, and preparation for audits. The position is based in Huntsville, AL and requires onsite presence. The quality engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following in the next section. Responsibilities to Anticipate: Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies Regularly generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB) Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Missile Defense Agency(MDA), and Navy Representatives Daily status meetings with the factory support, factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders to manage issue Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions undefined Qualifications You Must Have: Requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)an two (2) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering or related discipline Experience in supporting design and/or manufacturing process Manufacturing process experience (assembly, inspection, test) Experience with engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control The ability to obtain and maintain an US security clearance prior to the start date (U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance) The ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance Qualifications We Value: Existing DoD Secret Clearance Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with factory management, hourly employees, government partners (DCMA, MDA, Navy, etc.) and internal stakeholders Experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing process and product/process improvements in the factory or at suppliers Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Experience with Root Cause Analysis Tools- Sologic, Etq, and 5 Whys Six Sigma or ASQ Certification Data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics Learn More & Apply Now Please ensure the role type defined below is appropriate for your needs before applying to this role.
