Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Care Rehabilitation team on a PRN basis. This flexible opportunity is ideal for experienced clinicians seeking supplemental work or new graduates looking to build valuable hospital-based experience in a supportive, collaborative environment. As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence, improve functional performance, and safely transition to the next level of care. Working alongside physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and case management teams, you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care. What You'll Do: Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide evidence-based interventions focused on activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, self-care, and independence. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop coordinated plans of care. Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques, equipment recommendations, and home programs. Assist with discharge planning and recommendations for continued services. Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress within the electronic medical record. Patient Population: Work with a diverse adult patient population recovering from orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, medical, and surgical conditions in an acute care hospital setting. Qualifications: Current Tennessee Occupational Therapist license or eligibility for licensure. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Current CPR/BLS certification. Acute care or inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and time management skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Provides activity therapy assessments and occupational therapy assessments, written treatment and discharge plans. • Attends and participates in designated treatment team meetings • Plans and conducts daily activity therapy group sessions and programs, with individual therapy sessions as needed • Completes appropriate documentation • Participates in program Performance Improvement process TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES • Treatment Planning & Goal Setting (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in developing a plan of care that incorporates treatment interventions focused on meeting objective goals. Develops and documents patient focused short and long term goals that are functional and measurable. Identifies the need for and referral to other services, as needed. May serve as a mentor for other clinical staff to develop their skills in treatment planning. May consult with team members or implement new procedures. • Treatment Implementation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in providing treatment consistent with physician prescription and established plan of care. Able to modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. Supervises and directs certified athletic trainers (PT only), physical therapist / occupational therapist assistants, technicians and volunteers and students. Selects and follows correct protocol for care, as established, and actively seek out, utilize and mentor/teach others on current evidence based treatment strategies. May consult with team members to offer suggestions for treatment strategies.
