Description of Work Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is currently accepting applications for a Nurse Supervisor I for Third Shift. In conjunction with Nurse Unit Managers (NUM's), the Nurse Supervisor provides direct supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff, within the RN Scope of Practice, assigned to respective unit. 1. Carries the Nurse Supervisor phone to document staff call outs and makes daily adjustments in staffing based on changing resident care needs and/or call outs. 2. Provides direct hands-on nursing services to individuals residing on respective unit as needed (assessments, nursing care plans, medication administration, CPR, NCI, etc.). 3. Responsible for personnel management including, but not limited to, the following: performance evaluations (establishing employee work plans, completing monthly check-ins, and collaborating with NUM to complete final evaluation); on-the-job injuries, and disciplinary processes. 4. Creates and maintains unit staffing schedules. Monitors work reassignments (occupational and non-occupational) as warranted. 5. Investigation of incidents, quality of care issues, accidents (residents and staff) and abuse, neglect, exploitation allegations according to policy. Conducts regular unit rounds/visual checks throughout shift to assess quality and appropriateness of resident care. 6. Monitors unit orientation of new employees on assigned shift to ensure competency including timely completion of new hire onboarding Nursing Department checklist. This is an anticipated vacancy. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $71,698 - $118,304 Recruitment Range: $85,500 - $105,541 *A Sign-On Bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on Budget Approval. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred : Knowledge and skills in the application of the nursing process and development of the resident care plan. Considerable knowledge of medications, proper dosage, effects, and contraindications. Knowledge of principles and practices of professional nursing. ability to communicate verbally and in writing with various types of people. Demonstrated knowledge of supervision and performance evaluation techniques. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Light Work Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. USUAL WORK HOURS Wednesday - Tuesday 10:45 PM - 7:15 AM Flexibility is required for education and training purposes and to meet the needs of the facility. Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts Day: 10% weekend shift premium Evening: 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium Night: 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium *ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS To qualify for the Sign-On Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a pro-rated rate. An employee is not eligible for a Sign-On Bonus if: The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date). The employee has previously received a Sign-On Bonus from any State agency. DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability.  The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.
