Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus Math Interventionist Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156 Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE) Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate, data-driven, and student-focused Math Interventionist to provide targeted mathematics support to scholars who need additional assistance developing their mathematical skills, conceptual understanding, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. The Math Interventionist will work closely with classroom teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff to identify student needs, provide targeted intervention, monitor progress, and adjust instruction based on student data. The ideal candidate is committed to helping all scholars make meaningful academic growth while maintaining high expectations and creating a supportive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning environment. Key Responsibilities Math Intervention & Student Achievement Provide targeted, standards-aligned mathematics intervention to students performing below grade-level expectations Deliver small-group and individualized instruction focused on foundational math skills, computation, fluency, number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning Use student assessment data to identify skill gaps and develop targeted intervention plans Implement evidence-based instructional strategies to accelerate student mathematical growth Provide differentiated instruction based on individual student needs, skill levels, and learning goals Reinforce grade-level math standards and classroom instruction through targeted intervention Develop students’ ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations and multi-step problems Monitor student progress through formative assessments, progress-monitoring tools, and classroom data Adjust intervention strategies and instructional plans based on student performance Maintain accurate documentation of student intervention plans, progress, and outcomes Support students in developing confidence, perseverance, and positive attitudes toward mathematics Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring Regularly analyze assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify trends and areas of need Establish measurable academic goals for students receiving intervention services Track student growth and communicate progress with classroom teachers and instructional leaders Participate in data meetings and intervention planning sessions Use data to determine when students require additional, modified, or reduced intervention support Collaborate with teachers to ensure intervention strategies are aligned with classroom instruction Identify students who may benefit from additional academic or instructional supports Use student performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies Classroom Culture & Student Support Establish a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment Build strong relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations Encourage student engagement, perseverance, and confidence in mathematics Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies Provide an inclusive learning environment that supports students with diverse academic and linguistic needs Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development Maintain a safe, organized, and academically focused intervention environment Collaboration & Professional Growth Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, instructional leaders, special education staff, and other support personnel Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities Work with grade-level teams to coordinate intervention strategies and academic supports Share student progress, instructional strategies, and data with relevant staff Participate in MTSS/RTI processes and intervention planning as appropriate Continue developing knowledge of evidence-based mathematics intervention practices Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on mathematics achievement and continuous improvement Family Engagement Communicate with families regarding student academic progress and intervention goals Provide appropriate updates regarding student growth, areas of need, and strategies for continued support Collaborate with families to encourage mathematical practice and academic development at home Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other family engagement opportunities as needed Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements: Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) with a K–8 endorsement Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics, Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or a related field Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated instruction and targeted academic intervention Strong understanding of mathematical concepts, problem-solving, number sense, and grade-level mathematics standards Ability to analyze student data and use it to guide instructional decisions Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students and maintain a structured learning environment Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a math, mathematics, or intervention teacher Experience providing small-group or individualized academic intervention Experience work
