If you are interested, please apply without delay!  This recruitment will close once we've reached 150 applications or the closing date, whichever comes first.* OVERVIEW The Department of Community Services Transportation Division is looking for a Maintenance Specialist 1 to join its Road Maintenance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to community safety and improving the transportation infrastructure by performing a variety of manual labor tasks and job duties.  As a Maintenance Specialist 1 , your duties will include: Street cleaning Sanding and clearing of roadways Transporting materials Towing equipment Applying pavement treatments Maintaining drainage systems Vegetation management Right-of-way and shoulder maintenance And a wide range of other diverse activities including emergency operations This position require teamwork and the ability to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors in various weather extremes such as heat, cold, rain, storms, snow, floods, etc. Work shifts will be 4/10-hour days. Minimum  Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, AND Two years of experience in maintenance and/or road construction One year of truck driving experience Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License at the time of appointment Pass a pre-employment drug test Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify.
