Mailroom Clerk

Amentum is seeking a 1st shift Mailroom Clerk to join our facilities maintenance team in Des Moines, IA.  Typical hours: Monday - Friday, 1st shift; overtime and hours may vary based on customer demand. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mailroom services. Duties and Responsibilities: Sort, distribute, and deliver incoming and outgoing mail within the Post Office premises accurately and in a timely manner Operate mail processing equipment, including postage machines, letter openers, and sorting machines Collect and process various types of mail, such as letters, packages, registered mail, and bulk mailings Prepare mail for delivery, including sorting it alphabetically or by postal code Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing mail, including tracking packages and maintaining logs Assist in maintaining inventory of mailing supplies, such as envelopes, stamps, and packaging materials Address and resolve any mail-related issues, including mislabeled or undeliverable mail Collaborate with other postal workers to ensure efficient mail delivery service Escort suppliers when needed Confirm Suppliers are Green in Avetta before performing work on site Create Badge Access Requests Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent One year of experience Proven experience working in a mailroom or similar office environment preferred Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in using mail processing equipment, including postage machines and sorting machines Familiarity with postal regulations and procedures is a plus Additional Information: Qualified applicants offered a position must be able to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks. Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift. Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift. Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift. Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift. Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift. Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift. Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.   Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding. Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement. Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. Special Requirements: Wear steel toe/Metatarsal safety footwear, safety glasses, gloves, bump/hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as required. Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained. Other Attributes: Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays & weekends.
