Job Details KH Hamilton | Full-Time | Nights Responsibilities & Requirements The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct, compassionate nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, supporting patient safety, comfort, and recovery. This role assists with medication administration, monitoring, and documentation while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and infection control protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Required Education:  Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program Preferred Work Experience:  Experience in an acute care or clinical setting.  Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:  Current, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio.  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Preferred Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:   IV therapy certification.  Skills  Knowledge of nursing principles and practices within the LPN scope of practice  Proficiency in medication administration and clinical documentation  Ability to measure and record vital signs accurately  Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems  Effective verbal and written communication  Strong observational and critical thinking skills  Ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary care teams  Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards  Strong organizational and time management skills.  Essential Functions  Administers nursing care and treatments to patients within the LPN scope of practice and as directed by a registered nurse or physician.  Administers medications, including oral, topical, rectal, and injectable forms, following physician orders and organizational policy.  Observes, monitors, and documents patient conditions, reporting significant changes to supervising RN or provider.  Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support.  Collects specimens for laboratory testing and assists with basic diagnostic procedures as ordered.  Participates in the development and implementation of individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.   Provides education and instructions to patients and families regarding medications, treatments, and self-care as appropriate.  Applies infection control and safety measures to protect patients, visitors, and staff.  Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and other required records.  Provides guidance and support to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) as delegated by the supervising RN.  Responds to emergencies and assists with resuscitation or urgent interventions within scope of practice.  Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.   Competencies  Nursing competencies are based on ACHC standards or department specific needs/specialties  Overview Kettering Health is a not-for-profit system of 14 medical centers and more than 120 outpatient facilities serving southwest Ohio. Our mission is to live God’s love by promoting and restoring health.
