We’re seeking leaders who think beyond projects to improve the way we deliver them: individuals who elevate people, process, and performance across the firm.   Overview:   The Learning Content Specialist, Practice Management plays an important role in developing practical, engaging learning materials that support employee development across the firm. Working within the Practice Management department, this role partners with subject matter experts, discipline leaders, and internal stakeholders to turn technical and business content into clear, learner-centered resources. The ideal candidate does not need to be an engineering design expert; they should be curious, organized, agile in development, and creative in shaping content so learning is memorable, relevant, and easy to apply.   Responsibilities include but are not limited to:   Partner with subject matter experts, practice leaders, and internal stakeholders to assess learning needs, define objectives, and determine the most effective format for each learning experience.   Transform videos, recorded meetings, presentations, process documents, and SME input into engaging educational content for employees across the firm.   Design and develop practical learning assets, including eLearning modules, short-form videos, microlearning, job aids, work aids, slide decks, knowledge checks, and reinforcement activities.   Apply adult learning principles and creative instructional strategies to make complex information clear, actionable, and memorable.   Support video-based learning by organizing source footage, drafting scripts or storyboards, editing for clarity, and coordinating SME review for accuracy.   Use rapid-development approaches to build content efficiently while maintaining quality, consistency, and alignment with firm standards.   Manage review cycles, incorporate feedback, and keep multiple learning projects moving through different stages of development.   Create learning experiences that help knowledge stick through scenarios, practice opportunities, reflection prompts, knowledge checks, follow-up resources, and performance support tools.   Maintain organized learning content files, templates, version control, and reusable assets.   Use learner feedback and available usage data to improve content effectiveness over time.   Education & Experience:   4–7 years of experience in instructional design, learning content development, multimedia learning, or related field.   Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Multimedia, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.   Experience developing learning materials from source content such as SME interviews, recorded meetings, videos, slide decks, process documentation, or technical explanations.   Working knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and methods for reinforcing learner retention and application.   Proficiency with common content development tools such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Microsoft 365, learning management systems, or similar platforms.   Strong writing, editing, visual communication, organization, and resource orchestration skills.   Ability to collaborate with technical SMEs, ask thoughtful questions, synthesize complex information, and create clear learning experiences without needing to be a technical engineering design expert.   Comfort working in an agile, iterative environment with shifting priorities, fast feedback cycles, and multiple concurrent projects.   Preferred Qualifications:   Experience creating video-based learning, microlearning, or blended learning experiences for a professional services, engineering, architecture, construction, consulting, or technical environment.   Experience translating complex or technical content into clear, practical learning materials for non-specialist audiences.   Portfolio or work samples demonstrating instructional design, content development, video learning, job aids, or other learner-centered materials.   Familiarity with learning management systems, content libraries, and knowledge-sharing platforms.   Ability to bring creative ideas to ambiguous content challenges and recommend formats that improve learner engagement, retention, and application.   Compensation:   Base Compensation: $70,000-$95,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skills and/or location) SMC offers a competitive benefits package, with a 36-hour standard work week, hybrid working arrangement, 13 paid holidays, 100% coverage of medical, health, and dental insurance premiums for our full-time employees, and reimbursement of professional licensing costs.
