Job Title Learning and Instructional Design Support Specialist I Agency Texas A&M University Department Teaching and Learning Innovation Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Teaching & Learning Innovation (TLI) team is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented Learning and Instructional Design Support Specialist I to support the delivery and facilitation of high-quality hybrid and online courses for Mays Business School. This position assists faculty with the effective use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and integrated instructional technologies. The specialist provides technical support, training, and troubleshooting to ensure seamless course experiences, including resolving LMS challenges, delivering just-in-time faculty support, and maintaining documentation, tutorials, and guides that promote consistent instructional quality.  As a member of the Teaching & Learning Innovation (TLI) team , this role collaborates closely with the Learning Delivery and Learning Quality units to ensure successful course preparation, launch, and facilitation across Mays Flex Online programs. The Learning and Instructional Design Support Specialist I champions reliable instructional delivery, proactive problem solving, and continuous improvement through data-informed feedback, ultimately enhancing the learning experience for faculty and students alike.  What You Need to Know Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience . Other Requirements and Factors : Evening or weekend work may be required.  Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in relevant field. No prior experience required. A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess: Two years of experience working in an LMS interfacing with/supporting faculty in an education environment.  Experience troubleshooting Canvas or other LMS challenges. Experience in higher education. Experience using Team Dynamix or other ticketing system.   Experience with basic instructional design. Member of Texas Digital Learning Association (TXDLA).  Experience with online learning environments.  Experience training staff, working with faculty or stakeholders.  Experience supporting faculty in their use of software that enhances teaching and learning in a digital learning environment. Knowledge of instructional design theories and best practices. Experience evaluating data and generating solutions to address student feedback. Experience with project management software. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to effectively plan and execute projects that make efficient use of time and resources to meet deadlines.  Knowledge of educational technologies and other software that enhance teaching and learning in a digital learning environment, such as Zoom, third-party integrated technologies, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, etc. Strong attention to detail.  Strong written and verbal communication skills.  Collaboration with teammates, staff, managers, and faculty.  Ability to multi-task and work independently or cooperatively with others.  Opportunities to Contribute Learning Support Troubleshoots and resolves faculty and staff support issues related to the Learning Management System (LMS) and other learning technologies. Provides triage support, training, and guidance through ticketing systems, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other communication platforms. Assists in testing new applications, integrations, and system configurations to ensure readiness and reliability. Collaborates with team members to develop, maintain, and update user guides, documentation, and training materials for supported technologies. Supports course preparation by assisting faculty with updates to assignments, due dates, and other instructional materials prior to course delivery. Learning Delivery Execution Provides LMS and learning technology support during course delivery, including gradebook setup, group management, and troubleshooting third-party integrations. Conducts just-in-time and scheduled training sessions for faculty during the Design Workshop and throughout the course term. Facilitates post-course improvement discussions with faculty and coordinates identified updates with Learning Design and Project Management teams. Collects and summarizes student experience and course feedback data for faculty and program directors to inform future improvements. Project Support Manages assigned projects using established project management systems to document progress, maintain communication, and ensure timely completion.  Creates and updates supporting materials such as outlines, workflows, and process guides to communicate training and design concepts.  Maintains organized documentation and materials for all assigned projects.  Information Awareness Maintains current knowledge of LMS features, instructional technology trends, and higher education best practices.  Explores and shares innovative approaches to enhance teaching, learning, and information sharing within the team and across programs.  Who We Are Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School is a vibrant learning organization of more than 175 faculty members, 125 staff members, and 6,400 undergraduate and graduate students in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, marketing, and supply chain management.
