LaHaye Rec Aquatics Coordinator

The Campus Rec Coordinator is responsible to provide and oversee effective operations for respective Campus Recreation administration, programs, and/or facilities during set work hours. The Coordinator will provide direction to part time and/or student workers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They are responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk, and executing job specific functions. The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance , operations and programming of aquatic facilities within Campus Recreation. This position is responsible for leading student managers, student employees and seasonal employees .   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES   1. Responsible for directly overseeing a lifeguard team of student managers, student employees and seasonal employees . This includes hiring, training, developing, scheduling , and evaluating .   2. Lead regular in- service trainings for lifeguard s to ensure skill maintenance and staff readiness.    3. Responsible for day to day operational tasks to ensure seamless function of Campus Recreation aquatic facilities including: monitoring and adjusting chemicals , pump room maintenance, conducting facility cleaning, reporting maintenance issues, and communicating with vendors.   4. Assists in development and implementation of aquatic programming, including swim lessons and classes.    5. Assists in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies in aquatic facilities, and ensuring compliance with University policies.    6. Document and report incidents and injuries in aquatic facilities.   7. Document, track, and report program statistics and objectives progress in the area s of usage, program participation, and survey feedback .   8. Make purchases and recommendations for departmental assets or expenses.    9. Occasionally oversee and assist with events or operations during evening, nights or weekend hours.   10. Remain up to date on industry standards and performance benchmarks and ensure that aquatics operations and programming remain effective and current.    11. Perform all other tasks assigned by the Director of Fitness Facilities.   12. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES     This position is responsible for 3 student managers , 2 8 student employees , 7 seasonal employees   QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS   Required Qualifications:   Four-year college degree from an accredited university    1-2 years’ experience working in an aquatic setting   Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications   Current Lifeguard Certification   Certified Pool Operator   Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)   Excellent verbal and written communication skills   Excellent organizational skills, problem solving a bility, and attention to detail   Preferred Qualifications:   Earned or progress towards graduate level degree   Experience leading a team   Water Safety Instructor Certified   ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB   Communication and Comprehension   Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.   Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.   Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.   Strong organizational skills.   Excellent computer skills.   Problem Solving   Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.   Physical and Sensory Abilities   Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.   Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.     Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.   Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.   Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.   Regularly lift 45 or fewer pounds .   WORKING CONDITIONS   Work Environment   The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is split between a climate-controlled office setting and aquatic facilities. Both areas are well lit and the noise level is moderate. Work in aquatic facilities will necessitate handling aquatic chemicals to maintain a safe environment.    Driving Requirements   Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.  Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.   Time Type Full time Location Onsite   Pay Range Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
