“In 36 months, agentic AI systems will be an operating reality across major institutions. We intend to be central to it.” — Dr. Jim Rebesco, Cofounder and CEO, Striveworks
The government’s demand for AI is growing far faster than the systems required to support it. Fewer than 15% of federal AI programs have reached sustained production, despite billions of dollars invested. The models perform in testing, but they degrade in the real world. And when performance drops, trust goes with it.
Striveworks was built to solve that problem.
What you’ll build
Since 2018, we have delivered the most trusted AI systems operating in real-world use cases—providing a layer of assurance underneath hundreds of deployed models that monitors performance, manages drift, and sustains systems long after they leave the lab.
As a Junior Quality Engineer, you will be challenged—and trusted—on day one to safeguard and improve the quality of our core products. In this mission-critical work, you will verify that software is performing as designed, document test results and implications, plan and implement new test strategies, and grow in your knowledge of our software.
You’re right for this opportunity if you value and possess technical aptitude and enjoy pushing the boundaries of your own capabilities. You are passionate about what is possible with software engineering, data science, and machine learning. You are comfortable following a defined plan while also thinking about how it can be improved, and you communicate results and ideas to your team throughout the process.
What it’s like here
We lead with trust, treat each other with respect, and use candor consistently, kindly, and constructively. We care deeply about our work, and we find genuine satisfaction in doing it well. Above all, we take ownership—because we feel the weight of collective results personally. We are looking for people who share these values and are eager to put them into practice.
What we’re looking for
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or another engineering or science discipline, or completion of a software development boot camp and 0–2 years of relevant professional experience
Understanding of core programming concepts and basic proficiency in one or more programming languages
Understanding of software testing concepts and methodology
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Attention to detail
Ability to clearly communicate technical topics in documents and conversations
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be a US person (a US citizen, a US national, or a Green Card holder)

Proficiency with test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, TestRail, React Testing Library, Postman, or similar
Exposure to or proficiency with modern software engineering tools and processes (Agile, version control, issue tracking, CI/CD, etc.)
Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Golang
Experience using SQL and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes (K8s)
Exposure to concepts in machine learning and data science, and/or machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, sklearn, or similar
Experience delivering technology solutions in secure government environments
Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a Secret (or above) US security clearance, or an active Secret (or above) US security clearance
This position offers a hybrid/on-site work environment at our office in Austin, TX.
