ITE Student Media Intern

Overview The salary range for this position is $17.75 - $18.50 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-neogiatable. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at SDSU. FUNCTION OF THE UNIT  This Communications Unit is under the San Diego State University (SDSU) Institute for Transformative Education (ITE) which is an institute under the College of Education. ITE is funded by grants from the U.S. Dept. of Education. Its purpose is promoting college access and degree attainment for low-income and first-generation-college students, high school and college. The Communications Unit of ITE supports its endeavors through media campaigns, messaging, and other communications tools. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION  Provide support for the ITE Communications Specialist in providing internal and external communication to ensure staff and the public receive accurate, timely, and positive information about ITE. Responsibilities Office Support (95%)  Create flyers, graphics, and video content on Canva for social media platforms, print materials, website promotion, etc. Photograph/video for content creation, accumulating both time-sensitive and evergreen content Keep a calendar of upcoming social media posts up to date Update media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) for ITE and SSS TPrep Assist in the creation and scheduling of ITE News Bites and other relevant newsletters Maintain links and documents in program webpages and Linktree to ensure accuracy Copywriting aimed towards different stakeholders through different media (i.e. social media, flyers, pamphlets, etc.) Participate in project-specific activities (such as UB Summer Academy events) to ensure the public receives timely, accurate, and positive information about ITE as appropriate (i.e. writing press releases for significant changes, attending events and sharing photos/videos online, etc.) Monitor groups on Flare app for appropriate activity Other (5%)  Perform any other such duties as necessary to support the program for the benefit of students and staff. Knowledge and Abilities  Social Media Best Practices Experience with accessibility features or ability to learn quickly Meta Business Suite Canva Writing/brand voice Majors OR comparable experience in: Marketing, PR, Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or other related study Qualifications Minimum Education Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at SDSU Minimum Experience none Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree preferred.  Experience being proficient in performing most or all work assignments.  ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION: Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at time of hire.
