Insurance Specialist - Spencer Hospital

Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital. ​ Responsibilities: Calling payors for payment  Performs routine duties in conjunction with processing all third party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and other government assisted programs. Clerks will have a good working knowledge of all payer regulations for submitting claims. Billing clerk will send claims either electronically or hard copy depending on the type of claim being processed. Handles day to day requests for insurance resubmits. Answers phone calls and correspondence relating to the claim. Audits the admission/registration information to ensure accuracy prior to billing and check for missing or incorrect information or authorizations Requirements: Previous hospital and/or clinic billing experience preferred Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology Experience with EPIC is a plus Must have excellent communication skills, caring attitude and be a team player Strong organizational skills are required HS diploma or equivalent required Schedule: 80 hrs per pay period M-F; 8a-4:30pm The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department Spencer Hospital offers competitive wages, affordable insurance, IPERS retirement, in-house education, paid time off, family gym membership and so much more!
