Founding Product Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a founding product engineering role at a seed-stage AI startup building computer vision solutions that automate blueprint reading, material takeoffs, and cost estimation for the construction industry. You will sit on a small, impact-driven product team, owning features end-to-end and working directly with customers to ship meaningful improvements week over week. The work is genuinely consequential: faster, more accurate estimation helps builders deliver more housing and infrastructure with less waste. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own features end-to-end, from weekly customer interviews through to production delivery. - Build UIs that make complex blueprint and hardware data feel approachable for users accustomed to paper-based workflows. - Contribute across the stack, working in React on the frontend and Python on the backend and infrastructure. - Act as a 0-to-1 architect and builder, taking ideas from concept to shipped product. - Translate messy domain knowledge gathered from customers into clear, actionable product decisions. - Shape product direction, not just implementation details. - Handle the operational and logistical work that keeps an early-stage startup moving forward. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Demonstrated ability to ship full-stack features using React (frontend) and Python (backend and infra); all experience levels considered, including new graduates. - Track record of owning features end-to-end, including direct customer engagement and discovery. - Strong product taste and user-focused design sensibility. - Comfort with 0-to-1 product building and designing architecture from scratch. - Excellent communication skills, a growth mindset, and genuine motivation to make housing more affordable. - US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available. - Bonus: experience building a product that real users adopted or paid for (founder or early startup background). - Bonus: construction or blueprint domain knowledge, or a clear interest in the industry. - Bonus: experience applying AI or computer vision to estimation or takeoff workflows. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: $120,000 to $180,000 USD annually. Equity is available as part of a founding-team package. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION On-site, full-time in San Francisco, California, USA. Candidates based elsewhere must be willing to relocate.
