Focus Factory Engineering Supervisor

Overview This position is located in Jacksonville, Florida as part of Focus Factory Construction Engineering for the Virginia and Columbia Programs at the BAE Focus Factory. The Focus Factory Supervisor will be responsible for directly contributing to the safe, efficient and continuous completion of construction activities in a manner that results in delivery of ships consistent with the design intent at BAE. This will involve developing and managing a team of engineers that will need to grow as the Focus Factory continues to ramp up, with the main focus to resolve technical construction and design issues that are primarily structural in discipline for Virginia and Columbia construction at BAE. This group will be tasked with developing construction and engineering processes that support new engineering software and tools.   The supervisor will interface regularly with Electric Boat Operations on site at BAE, Program Office, and Cognizant Engineering departments to develop timely resolutions to support an aggressive construction schedule for procurement as well as deck/module delivery with a focus on first time quality. Additionally, the supervisor will be expected to regularly brief Management and Program Office on issues that could cause delay to pertinent schedule dates and occasionally be required to brief the customer, whether that be SUPSHIP or NAVSEA, on high priority concerns and request approval via formal documentation. The supervisor will be in charge of providing technical and professional guidance to aid in employee development. Electric Boat “Dives Deeper” to develop the best talent and achieve the best results.   Developing high performers includes  Upholding values   Collaborating with others and teamwork   Developing people o Seeking new perspectives  Driving organization performance includes  Delivering results   Executing work in the best interest of the enterprise  Resolving Problems   Upholding standards of performance   Supervisors at Electric Boat reflect who we are and what we believe by exhibiting our Core Values of  Value Each Other   Behave with Integrity and Purpose   Commit to Excellence   As the supervisor of this group, your responsibilities in support of leading your team will include  Assigning work   Providing technical guidance and direction  Safety, technical quality, cost and schedule performance of the group   Approving technical documents   Scoping and estimating tasks   Fostering a collaborative, hands-on, proactive, and technically rigorous approach to engineering and problem solving in a dynamic and time-sensitive environment  Staffing to support shipyard construction and delivery schedules   Supporting employee professional development and preservation of critical technical skills and knowledge   Supporting work outside of normal working hours  Qualifications Required Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Equivalent   The position is required to be on-site at BAE in Jacksonville, Florida   5+ years of Engineering experience   DOD Secret Security Clearance  Preferred Qualifications:  Previous and/or current supervisory experience   Strong technical understanding of structural engineering related principles and experience reviewing and analyzing structural deviations/design   Knowledge and working experience with lifting and handling   Knowledge and experience with Electric Boat business systems and tools   Waterfront or Construction Engineering experience   Experience with NX/Teamcenter  Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to maintain a relationship with Electric Boat Ops on Site at BAE and Program Offices.   The candidate must have a solid understanding of ship design, and construction.   Proven leadership and ability to motivate a team  A demonstrated ability to present a positive and professional image to customers is required.  The candidate should demonstrate a history of leadership and mentorship.   Time flexibility is required to support the construction schedule.   Some travel will be required.  Physical Qualifications Climbing, Kneeling, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting Environmental Attributes Inside, Noise, Outside
