Position Summary/Objective: To efficiently operate computerized feed manufacturing equipment to mix and process ingredients to the company specified formulations and quality guidelines; provide related customer services in a safe and effective manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:
Operations
Operate computerized batch mixing equipment, receiving and load-out equipment, micro-ingredient addition, and grinding equipment.
Assist in other areas of the location as needed.
Maintenance
Maintains inventory at desired levels.
Performs housekeeping duties and maintains a clean work environment.
Assist in the maintenance of equipment.
Ensures that work area, equipment, and vehicles are all neat, clean, and well maintained.
Documentation & Standards
Fulfills all reporting and record-keeping requirements.
Follows standards of quality as outlined by QMS and other manufacturing and regulatory controls.
Other
Use all tools, equipment, and vehicles carefully and for their intended use.
Works extended hours as requested by supervisor to ensure good customer service in busy season.
Basic Employment Expectations:
Safety
Performs work in a safe manner at all times and uses the appropriate PPE.
Checks the work area for hazards and corrects/reports unsafe conditions.
Considers the safety of oneself, and other employees, and customers.
Follows all safety protocols and seeks advice from supervisor when uncertain.
Notifies direct supervisor of any injuries sustained by employees.
Use all tools, equipment, and vehicles carefully and for their intended use.
Communication
Maintains open communication and cooperates with supervisor, departments, and fellow employees.
Communicates with supervisor and others immediately when unexpected problems cause absence, lateness, or the need to leave early.
Communicates hazards and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Communicates issues with production and delivery to supervisor immediately.
Accountability & Professionalism
Abides by policies set forth in the employee handbook. (PTO, Sick leave, Funeral leave, etc…)
Carries a fair share of the workload.
Promotes NEW Cooperative through a positive, friendly, professional interactions.
Is fully prepared to work all day at start of shift, punctual, follows directives, and works in an efficient and timely manner; accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the work.
Customer Service
Continually works to satisfy customers through effective communication, solving problems, answering questions, and managing their expectations.
Review customer order comments to help deliver the best quality product and service to meet the customers’ demands.
Does not reach out directly to customer, communicate through our internal feed office.
Personal/Professional Development
Establishes personal performance goals and works toward these goals.
Continually upgrades and demonstrates knowledge of the job.
Familiar with FSMA/current GMP. If an individual contacts or shows up unannounced to a facility reach out to supervisor and ask that they wait until your supervisor arrives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must be licensed and insurable to drive.
High school diploma or GED with 1-3 months of related experience.
Must be able to safely and effectively operate a forklift.
Understand the importance of providing very high levels of customer service.
Possesses basic mathematical and mechanical skills, problem solving capabilities, and understands the operational processes.
Prior experience and knowledge in Microsoft, Excel, and Office 365 is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Understand the seasonality of the farm supply business and the in-season time commitment.
Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with customers and individuals at all levels of the organization.
