Facilities Technician

Job Description Job Summary: Provides journeyman-level facilities maintenance support and reports to the Facilities Lead. Maintains and repairs facility structures, equipment, grounds, and building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Performs skilled trades work such as carpentry, painting, and general building repairs. Partners with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to install and maintain facility infrastructure supporting production operations. Conducts facility inspections, identifies repair needs, and works from blueprints, drawings, and sketches to complete projects. Participates in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule with three other Facilities Technicians, serving one week every four weeks and responding to site emergencies within 25 minutes during scheduled rotation. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Journeyman-level experience in the following areas: Carpentry (construction and maintenance) Plumbing (troubleshooting, construction and maintenance) Electrical (troubleshooting, construction and maintenance) Process and building piping (construction and maintenance) H.V.A.C. (installation, troubleshooting and maintenance) Perform all aspects of facility remodeling, including office and laboratory setup, teardown, and moving, floor preparation, tile setting, security system maintenance and troubleshooting, and phone network installation and support Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Familiarity with small-scale 3D printers is a plus Proficient in the safe operation of shop equipment, including table saws, band saws, drill presses, hydraulic presses, grinders, routers, belt sanders, forklifts, and a variety of hand tools Demonstrate current knowledge of industry-standard safety practices and safe work procedures Core Competencies: High attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills Working from plans, drawings, rough sketches or verbal instructions, the Facilities Technician will have the knowledge and ability to: Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all types building electrical and control systems Construct, alter, and remodel various types of internal and external building structures Install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot and repairs process and house plumbing systems and fixtures Perform preventive maintenance on, diagnose, maintain and repair all types of heating, ventilating and cooling systems Troubleshoot, modify and expand building networks Set up, knock down and move offices, labs and related equipment Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with administrators, engineers, process workers, co-workers and contractors Ability to interpret and work from a variety of work instructions, ranging from simple plans to complex blueprints; experience working with incomplete documentation is a plus Ability to establish, organize, and maintain an inventory of spare parts Experience working with a computer control system Knowledge of applicable building and electrical codes, including UBC, UFC, NEC, state and local codes Essential Job Functions: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., unassisted Must be able to team lift up to 70 lbs. Salary Range: $62,800.00-$83,700.000 The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
