Epidemiologist - Public Health

Lead the collection, integration, and management of opioid-related data from healthcare, community-based, and public safety sources (e.g., EMS, ED, law enforcement, toxicology). Conduct advanced epidemiologic analyses to monitor overdose trends, identify emerging patterns, and inform data-driven public health interventions. Develop and maintain a comprehensive data management plan, ensuring data quality, standardization, security, and compliance with data governance policies. Utilize statistical and data visualization tools (e.g., SAS, R, Power BI) to conduct analyses, automate reporting processes, and develop interactive dashboards that support real-time opioid overdose surveillance and decision-making. Produce and disseminate monthly and annual opioid overdose surveillance reports, highlighting key trends, disparities, and actionable insights. Identify and integrate new and innovative data sources to strengthen surveillance capacity and support programmatic initiatives. Collaborate with evaluation teams to design and implement program evaluations, including quantitative analyses and qualitative methods such as focus groups. Translate complex epidemiologic findings into clear, actionable presentations for diverse audiences, including leadership, community partners, and policymakers. Serve as a liaison for Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) initiatives across multidisciplinary workgroups, task forces, and partner organizations. Coordinate and implement a surveillance communications plan, including the development and dissemination of overdose spike alerts and situational updates. Support internal data governance committees by providing technical expertise on data use, sharing agreements, and best practices. Monitor national and local trends, emerging substances, and innovative surveillance methodologies to ensure alignment with cutting-edge public health practices.
