We are looking for a year-round night-shift Environmental Compliance Specialist for the Spent Fuel Handling Recapitalization Project (SFHP) Facility at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). The Environmental Compliance Environmental Compliance will ensure, through oversight of subcontractors, that the site-specific SFHP environmental procedures are being implemented during construction activities. This will entail comprehension and application of the SFHP environmental procedures, performing environmental inspections, audits, and field oversight of construction activities. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will spend at least 75% of the time in the field performing oversight and ensuring environmental compliance. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will work across functional groups (construction, engineering, and safety) and with subcontractors to ensure environmental aspects are captured during execution of work. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will identify, report, and correct deficiencies and ensure compliance with SFHP environmental procedures. Typical duties will include oversight of spill response, responding to wildlife observations impacting construction, ensuring secondary containment is adequate and effective, inspection of construction equipment for leaks, coaching craft on environmental compliance as work is being planned, and management of various waste streams. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will respond to emergent environmental issues impacting construction. This is a year-round night-shift role. Typical shift will begin at 1800 hours and end at 0400 hours Monday through Friday. This may vary depending on the time of year and phase of construction. The work location for this position is the Naval Reactors Facility, Idaho National Laboratory, Scoville, ID  83213, approximately 55 miles WNW of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or 3 to 5 years relevant experience in construction Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word Valid driver's license is required USA citizenship is required (no dual-citizenship) Technical writing skills (preferred) In addition to the requirements above, the ideal candidate is in the vicinity of southeast Idaho (Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, Pocatello, Rexburg) Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary.
