Entry Level Staff Engineer - Traffic Design - Summer 2027

As an Entry Level Staff Engineer , you will join our Transportation and Traffic Design Team  in our  Shelton, CT or Middletown, CT  office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Whether it’s designing roads, bridges, or multimodal systems, we ensure our designs are sustainable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking.  Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards What You’ll Be Doing As a valuable part of our  Transportation and Traffic Design Team , an Entry Level Staff Engineer  will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:  Perform traffic analysis and modeling using tools such as Synchro and SimTraffic Assist in the development of traffic signal timing plans and intersection improvement concepts Support the preparation of traffic engineering plans, cost estimates, and design documentation Review and analyzing traffic data including volumes, crash history, and speed studies Help draft technical memoranda, traffic studies, and feasibility reports for state and municipal clients Assist with permit documentation such as CTDOT encroachment permits and Traffic Management Plans Participate in field investigations and site visits to observe traffic operations and gather project data Collaborate with roadway, drainage, structural, and environmental teams to support integrated designs What You’ll Need    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field Passed your FE Exam and obtained your EIT certification, or planning to by June 2027 Familiarity with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, or similar Strong communication and organizational skills Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and curiosity about real-world design challenges Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative in a team environment Preferred Requirements Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering Exposure to Complete Streets or multimodal planning principles Familiarity with CTDOT or MassDOT and/or municipal traffic design standards Experience with traffic studies, permitting, or data collection through academic or internship projects Interest in obtaining a PE license and engaging in professional development Your Financial and Wellness Benefits Compensation is based on skills and experience as reflected in the pay range below The annual salary for a  Staff Engineer 1  in  Transportation  is set at  $79,768  for a candidate graduating with a  Bachelor's degree  in 2027 The annual salary for a  Staff Engineer 1 in Transportation  is set at  $83,928  for a candidate graduating with a  Master's degree or PhD  in 2027 Annual Bonus, Profit Sharing, and Employee Stock Ownership Plan Best in Class Medical Insurance Dental & Vision Insurance Wellness Rewards and Reimbursements Tuition Reimbursement and Qualified Student Loan Paydown Contributions Reimbursements for Licensure/ Certification Preparation and Fees Hybrid Work Environment Pet Insurance and Adoption Assistance  More Information about Tighe & Bond Ways to Grow Your Career We provide a structured career path with opportunities for professional development through tuition reimbursement, internal training, conference attendance, and professional memberships.
