What You Will Do: Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced EH&S Specialist to support environmental compliance at our manufacturing operation in Middletown, Connecticut. In this role, you will serve as a key environmental compliance resource for the site, with primary responsibility for hazardous and non-hazardous waste, remediation, chemical management and reporting, and related regulatory programs. You will partner closely with operations, facilities, maintenance, engineering, project management, and site leadership to identify compliance risks, implement effective controls, and maintain a strong culture of environmental stewardship. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that combines regulatory compliance, field engagement, data analysis, reporting, permitting, and continuous improvement. You will work directly with both leadership and shop-floor teams to translate environmental requirements into practical, sustainable processes and help ensure the site remains compliant with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The role also provides opportunities to support broader EH&S programs, including air, water, emergency preparedness, and management of change. The position is primarily based onsite in Middletown, CT, with occasional travel to Pratt & Whitney's East Hartford, CT facility (approximately 10–20%) for collaboration, meetings, and shared assignments. Key Responsibilities: Waste compliance assurance oversight, including program/policy management, report preparation and submittal, and internal collaboration with parties responsible for day-to-day execution of associated tasks such as container issuance, labelling, sampling, inspection, etc. Production and facility maintenance related as well as construction, abatement & remediation. Manage Chemical reporting (EPCRA/TSCA/TRI), plus shared responsibility for other environmental compliance programs such as Air and Water as needed.  Represent assigned environmental programs in the site’s collaborative Management of Change process to ensure risks associated with facility, equipment or process modifications are avoided, controlled or otherwise minimized. Develop and manage compliance strategies to minimize and mistake proof regulatory compliance risks, including onsite visual inspections and audits.   Prepare P&W regulatory reports for submittal to various regulatory government agencies including recordkeeping and monitoring confirmation prior to certifying compliance.  Shop floor support also includes interaction with operators and supervisors, powerhouse operations, and Facilities & Services maintenance departments. Provide in-person facility EH&S program support to address or prevent conditions that may adversely impact the environment and to ensure prompt communication and resolution of potential hazards to management. Periodically being on call 24 hours a day to respond to spills and / or environmental incidents. (Administrative support only, shared job duty / rotating schedule. HAZWOPER certification not required, but preferred.) Support EH&S compliance assurance audits by RTX, Pratt & Whitney, or regulatory agencies Collaborate with responsible team members on other EH&S assignments as needed. Qualifications You Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering or other job-related field with 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance, OR an Advanced degree with 3+ years of prior relevant experience. CT DPH WTP Operator & DS Operator Class I License or commitment to obtain within first 12-18 months. Demonstrated experience managing environmental compliance programs under RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, and applicable Connecticut environmental regulations, with particular emphasis on hazardous waste and chemical management Hands-on experience with hazardous waste characterization and determinations, waste profiles, accumulation requirements, container management, labeling, inspections, manifests, and disposal vendor management. Experience preparing, reviewing, or submitting environmental regulatory reports and maintaining compliance records, including experience with EPA RCRA Info/e-Manifest and EPA CDX or comparable regulatory reporting systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting environmental compliance in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment, preferably in a union shop. Experience with spill prevention, control, and response, including SPCC and environmental incident investigation. Air emissions monitoring, reporting, and compliance (Title V, NSR, PIQ, Asbestos NESHAP) Experience with Connecticut wastewater permits, including applicable industrial wastewater and/or municipal industrial user requirements.
