Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Supported/Community Living Program

TO QUALIFY: Employees must be at least 18 years of age per Oregon State Administrative Rules Prefer personal or professional experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities OR experience in front-facing customer service role and a true passion for helping vulnerable populations. Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required for the Community Living Support Program. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, attire and personal presentation when interacting with persons served and their families. The DSP will help individuals stay active and engaged by providing transportation to fun community events, hobbies, appointments, shopping trips, and other outings / errands. They also assist with a variety of household duties including cleaning, laundry, meal prep, budgeting and establishing routines.  Enrich and support the lives of the persons served while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care. Assist with activities of daily living, including community-based supports.  Help the individual set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers Communicate with clients and their families to understand their interests, skills, abilities, goals, and support needs. Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.  Duties may periodically include personal care assistance and support with prescribed medications. Other duties as assigned.
