You will use your mechanical and diagnostic skills to identify problems, complete repairs, and support the daily operation of the Danbury fleet. Responsibilities include: Performing preventive maintenance and safety inspections Diagnosing and repairing diesel and automotive systems Maintaining and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and related components Completing work orders accurately and documenting repairs Ensuring vehicles meet company and regulatory safety standards Assisting with mobile emergency repairs when needed Working closely with the maintenance and operations teams to keep the fleet available for service Diesel Technician Qualifications You may be a strong fit for this position if you: Have at least one year of automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicle maintenance experience Have a valid driver’s license Are willing and able to obtain a CDL with company-paid training Have a mechanic’s tool set Possess strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Are comfortable using computers to complete work orders and access maintenance information Are interested in expanding your skills through ASE training and certification Take pride in performing safe, accurate, and dependable work First Student encourages applications from candidates who: Do not have a college degree Have military maintenance experience Are returning to the workforce Are looking for a stable hourly position instead of flat-rate work Want an opportunity to continue learning and advance their career This position is subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements as a safety-sensitive role.
