Key Responsibilities Ensure buses and other fleet vehicles are properly maintained and safe for passengers Diagnose and complete all phases of vehicle maintenance and repair Repair and inspect braking systems Complete engine tune-ups and repairs Service suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and clutches Perform preventive maintenance services, safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and performance-related concerns Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately Assist with emergency road-service repairs when needed Follow all company, state, federal, and DOT safety requirements Diesel Technician Qualifications At least five years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience Formal diesel or automotive technical-school education may be considered as part of the candidate’s overall experience Strong vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills Experience performing preventive maintenance and major mechanical repairs Valid driver’s license required CDL Class B or ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment; company-paid training is provided Possession of a mechanic’s tool set sufficient to complete assigned duties Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program Strong computer and maintenance-documentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team This position is subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
