Job Details Radiology | Springfield | Full-time | Varied Shift  Responsibilities & Requirements The CT Tech Free Standing ED provides immediate, high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging services to support emergency patient care in a free-standing emergency department setting. This role ensures patient safety, accurate imaging, and timely communication with the healthcare team to facilitate rapid diagnosis and treatment. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health’s mission, vision, values, and B Safe program. Required Education Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.  Required Work Experience None required beyond completion of an accredited radiologic technology program Clinical rotations accepted Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography. ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT), or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Ohio Department of Health Radiologic License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.  Skills  Proficiency in computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures and protocols Knowledge of radiation safety principles and ALARA practices Ability to operate and troubleshoot CT equipment Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and radiology information systems Effective verbal and written communication Strong attention to detail and patient positioning skills Ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary care teams Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards.  Essential Functions  Perform CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols, ensuring diagnostic image quality. Assess, position, and monitor patients before, during, and after CT procedures, prioritizing safety and comfort. Administer contrast materials as ordered, monitoring for adverse reactions and responding appropriately. Operate, calibrate, and maintain CT scanners and related equipment; report malfunctions or safety concerns promptly. Document all procedures, patient information, and administered substances accurately in the electronic health record. Collaborate with radiologists, emergency physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results. Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, and patient confidentiality standards in compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide patient education regarding procedures, addressing questions and concerns to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation. Participate in quality assurance activities, including image review and protocol optimization. Respond to emergency situations within the scope of training, including basic life support and rapid imaging for critical patients.  Competencies Employee has basic knowledge of radiation safety Employee demonstrates understanding of the usage of equipment Employee demonstrates proper patient identification Employee demonstrates consistent hand hygiene practices  Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Health Sciences, or a related field  Experience as a CT Technologist in an emergency or acute care setting Additional ARRT certifications in specialized modalities.
