Description of Work Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant I, this position is responsible for providing first-line supervision to Correctional Officer I’s in a minimum custody security facility. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following: - Assigning lower level custody staff to a particular area or post. - Overseeing officer activities and performance, and ensuring that the custody, security and welfare of offenders are maintained. - Assigning work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel. About New Hanover Correctional Center : New Hanover Correctional Center is located in Wilmington, North Carolina and houses up to 402 male offenders in a minimum custody facility.
