Description of Work This position is located at Orange Correctional Center, Hillsborough, NC, Orange County. Orange Correctional Center is a minimum-custody facility that houses male offenders. Reporting to the Correctional Programs Supervisor, this position is responsible for supporting and counseling offenders. This position’s responsibilities include the following: Key Duties Included: - Manage a caseload of inmates, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on offenders’ questions and problems and making recommendations to the classification committee. - Aid in major dynamic programs and/or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offenders work assignments, work releases education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating - Plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community - Perform custody-related duties to include offenders’ medical, court trips, site checks, Work Release, and Community Volunteer Programs Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments. - Develop, implement, coordinate, and supervise a program within the framework of policies and procedures of Prisons. - Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing form - Research and stay current of services available to individuals from the community and other public and private programs. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $37,377.00 - $65,408.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
